Pony pup dump trailers are similar in design to an end dump trailer but are pulled using a pintle hitch instead of a fifth wheel. A dump body is lifted using a hydraulic hoist and material exits through the tailgate at the rear of the trailer. These trailers are available in tandem and tridem configurations and are towed behind dump trucks to increase the amount of hauling capacity.
