When we opened our doors in 1975, we were based out of West Edmonton, on the corner of Stony Plain Road and 178th Street. It was west of Centennial Mall (now Mayfield Common) and no other buildings other than Sandman Inn and Hayworth were along Stony Plain Road. An entrepreneur at heart, our founder, Elmer Schmidek, packed up his family of 7, moved from Hinton to Edmonton, purchased an old gas station, converted it into a small office and started operating as Edmonton’s first truck and trailer consignment centre.
In 1986, we relocated west of Edmonton to a bigger building in the Acheson Industrial Area, zone 3 and again there was lots of land and no neighbors. With more shop space, we were able to add a service department, which was ran by Elmer’s oldest son, Gary. In 1996, Gary left the service department and moved into sales and shortly after expanded our trailer product line to be able to cater to a wider range of industries including construction, oilfield, transportation, and forestry industries.
In February of 2004, we made another move; this time it was only a mile away from Zone 3 to Zone 2 within the Acheson Industrial Area. Again wide open spaces, and our only neighbor was Husky with one gas pump. This location is where we still call home today.
During the years we’ve been in business, we’ve seen and done a lot. The business was passed from parents to children, we’ve moved a few times, survived a couple of economic recessions, expanded our services and product offering, and continued to put emphasis on providing our customers with unique solutions built for their exact applications.
We truly take pride in the fact that we’ve spent the last 4 decades selling, servicing, and providing after-market parts for trailers in the construction, oilfield, transportation, and forestry industries.
If you are looking for the kind of business that takes the time to understand your application and needs, we hope that you’ll consider visiting us.
