Making sure our customers are provided with everything they need to keep their trucks and trailers safely on the road takes a team of committed and knowledgeable players. For the next couple of months, we are going to be featuring one of our team members every week so you can get to know the people behind our name and who you might be working with during your next visit.
 
First up is Gary Schmidek, our Vice President and Sales Manager. We sat down with Gary this week and asked him a few important questions. Here’s what he had to say.
 
How many years of experience do you have in the industry?
“Well I started working in the wash rack in 1976 while I was in High School, then in 1981, I went to school to become a welder. After welding for nearly 15 years I went into sales in 1996. In 2000 when my Dad passed away, I became Vice President of Hayworth and began managing our sales team as well. So overall I have about 43 years of experience in the industry.”
 
What motivates you to do what you do here, and what contribution to the customer is most important to you?
“I really enjoy when a customer comes to us with a problem and being able to work with them one on one to come up with a solution. The sales side of my job is very motivating for me, it is exciting for me to get to meet new people and hearing about their businesses. And then from there making sure they receive the best product or service that works with their budget.”
 
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
“Spending Saturdays with my wife gardening and working on small projects around the house. We also like taking our golden retriever out for walks and travelling whenever we can in the summer.”
